Flood Watch Maryland Southward..Rain Arrives Late Friday and Lasts On & Off For The Weekend
It isn''t pretty for Friday night into Sunday as we are going to see the potential for some heavy rains in South Central Pennsylvania and into North Central Maryland. In fact the criteria for a flood watch has been met from Maryland southward into the Carolinas. Areas in much of Virginia and North Carolina have 1 to 2 feet of snow melt and a saturated ground so another 1 to 2 inches of rain on top of the snow being washed away spells flooding concerns.
The map sequence above speaks more to Sunday where the coastal low takes over and while there will be some rain showers in the morning, we could see that rain begin to pull away Sunday afternoon. Areas to the north and east could see a change to snow at the end. Meteorologist Joe Cioffi has more on this weekend weather system.
